SOREL
From the snow-laden Arctic in 1962, SOREL emerged as a symbol of resilience—shaped not in factories, but in the elemental dialogue between human will and nature’s extremes.
Explorer Ralph Plaisted and his fearless crew became the first confirmed expedition to reach the North Pole 90° overland—famously crossing 500 miles of Arctic silence for 43 days in SOREL Caribou™ boots.
Decades later, Ann Daniels became a world record holder as the first woman in history to reach the North Pole from land. She iconically made the journey clad in SOREL boots—further solidifying the brand as an advocate for trailblazers, an architect of dreams.
SOREL was founded by Kaufman Rubber Company, a Canadian manufacturer known for producing premium rubber boots, industrial gear, and military equipment. That year, Kaufman introduced the first SOREL winter boot—the Caribou™—combining a rugged leather upper with a handcrafted rubber shell. It set a new standard for durable, high-quality footwear—a standard we still uphold today.
With every evolution, SOREL has refined its enduring hallmarks through a fashion lens. Premium hardware, sculptural architecture, precision detailing and best-in-class materials now meet our iconic engineering—solidifying our presence on the global fashion stage, standing confidently alongside the industry’s most influential players.
